Reacting to a viral video of the couple, Buchi said he supports young people getting married but believes it should be accompanied by maturity, mentorship and a proper understanding of the responsibilities that come with marriage.
"I don't want to sound like a hater. I love early marriages, when young people get married early. But I think that should come with a level of maturity, openness to advice and mentorship," he said.
Using his sister's marriage as an example, Buchi noted that successful young marriages require couples who are willing to learn, grow and seek guidance.
He warned that marriage is not something to be taken lightly.
"Marriage is a very serious institution. It's more than streaming. It's more than fooling around on social media. It's more than cameras. It is going to stretch you."
Buchi expressed concern over a recent video showing apparent tension between the couple, saying he found it troubling that weeks before their planned wedding, Jarvis appeared upset enough to tell Peller to take back a car he had gifted her.
"Honestly, I don't know what's going on in that video, but I don't think weeks to a wedding, a woman should be that pissed off that she's saying you can take back a car you got for her."
He urged the couple to seek professional marriage counseling before proceeding with the wedding, adding that unresolved resentment should never be carried into marriage.
"Get marriage counsel. Don't get into marriage with resentment. And if you have unresolved resentment, postpone the marriage or cancel it."
Buchi also advised Jarvis not to marry Peller based on the hope that he would change in the future.
"When you are getting married to someone, you are getting married to who they are and who they will become or who they may never become. If you don't like who they are right now, don't get married to them with the hope of a change. They might never change."
